Graham Norton in support of the Walk for Skin
For immediate release, 03.04.2007
Graham Norton has shown his support to 18 national charities for this year’s ‘Walk for Skin’, 13 sponsored walks all over the UK on 13th & 20th of May, in the fight against skin disease.
Graham says, “Walk for Skin is a one-of-a-kind event that gives everybody the chance to fundraise in the fight against skin disease and is literally a walk in the park! Millions of people’s lives are affected by skin disease, and this opportunity gives us a chance to really make a difference.”
A staggering £160,000 was raised at the first ever ‘Walk for Skin’ last year and over a thousand people have already registered for this year. All walks are located near cities, but in attractive country-side settings, so walkers can enjoy stunning scenery. Four new venues have been added, including London’s Regent’s Park, Windsor, Manchester and Birmingham.
Other celebrity supporters include comedian Ricky Tomlinson and TV legend, Sir Jimmy Savile, who both attended the Walk for Skin last year. Actor Richard E Grant is also in support of the Walk for Skin, along with actor Nitin Ganatra (who starred in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and Bride & Prejudice) who says, “The Walk for Skin event brings together 18 national charities in a bid to raise money to fight against all skin diseases and I think it’s a cause that everybody should back.”
Walk for Skin is proudly sponsored by Sanex and hopes to raise awareness and money towards vital research into all skin diseases. Skin disease affects the young and the old, which is why all of the 13 sponsored walks are around three miles long to ensure that people of all ages can take part.
To join the ‘Walk for Skin’, simply choose a venue near you and register free of charge, online at www.walkforskin.org.uk or by phone, on 0207 391 6341. Once registered, entrants will receive a sponsorship form, walkers’ pack and information about their chosen venue.
Indy Rihal of the British Skin Foundation, one of the charities taking part, said: “A devastating 8 million people’s lives are blighted by skin disease in the UK. This event aims to enhance sufferers’ lives and even save them.”
